I watched the Jing and Skitch tutorial screencasts. I was disappointed to learn that Skitch is currently Mac only.
I decided to use Screencast-o-matic because it didn't require a download. I was a little sceptical about doing this on my home computer because of my slow connection, but found it very easy to use even on dial up. It took longer to figure out how to upload the screencast to my blog than to actually create it.
Screencasting has a lot of potential uses. Staff training opportunities come to mind, or a demonstration on how to place a hold on our library catalog. I could also see using this on a personal level to help troubleshoot my mom's computer as well and show her how to fix things herself. Cool gadget!
