It seems I've been hung up on this topic for quite a while. Life's been busy, but more so, this topic wasn't as appealing to me as some of the earlier Things.
The What is Travel 2.0 article was a really good explanation the Travel 2.0 concept. I've used sites like travelocity and priceline to find hotel rooms based on amenities listed and reviews that were posted and have found them very helpful in finding places that will fit our needs.
Notes from the Road - I checked out this blog briefly, but since I'm not much of a traveler, it didn't really appeal to me.
tripadvisor.com would be a helpful site for someone looking for a place to find tips and information about specific destinations. Hotel rooms, flights, main attractions. The main drawback I noticed was that it mostly focused on large metropolitan areas. I couldn't find anything that discussed rural Minnesota, for example.
I really enjoyed looking at the fastfoodmaps listing of fast food joints. It may seem silly to those who avoid fast food, but it's always nice to know where the next Playland is located when travelling with small children, especially in the winter in Minnesota.
Since traveling is not exactly in my job description, I think most of these sites would be helpful in the library only as patron information. We do have many people looking for info on their next destination.

Karen, I'm working on this "thing" too and find your posts most helpful. I'm following you on twitter also. Keep up the good work. I'd be curious as where in Minnesota you are.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the words of encouragement! I've just added your blog to my list as well.
